This is a reproduction of a Lascaux red deer as I imagine it might have looked, freshly painted 15,000 years ago. Iron oxide paint is blown onto the stone, a light outline is created by scraping (sgraffito) into the surface of the stone. To see a photo of the original painting, click here.
